The scrapbooks are a multi-volume set, consisting primarily of newspaper and magazine clippings, which document the activities of the Buffalo Fine Arts Academy, est. 1962, which is the parent organization of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery; the Albright Art Gallery, 1905-1962, which was the name of the museum prior to its renaming in 1962; and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery 1962-1996.

On November 11, 1862, a group of prominent Buffalo citizens met to adopt a constitution and by-laws for the Buffalo Fine Arts Academy. At this initial meeting, it was agreed to establish and maintain a permanent art gallery in Buffalo.
